Countess Lubov Ranevskaya, after an absence of five years in Paris, returns to rural Russia, to her father's house, named after her cherry orchard. But the economic situation of the family is deteriorating, no one wants to improve it, so the beloved property of Lubov does not delay and is put up for auction. Finally, the Cherry Orchard is sold at a low price and lumberjacks with axes in their hands come in to cut down the trees.
